Q: I have a 2007 volvo xc90 and I recently noticed that there is an oil leak on right side of my engine, I did some research and it looks like it is due to vacuum pump, could you please let me know if you have such a pump or of it is difficult to replace,
A: Yes it is very common for these pumps to leak I even think 100% failure rate because volvo changed the design of it and pumps purchased in 2013 are different pump and there should be no problem with it, meanwhile there is no reason to spend $500 for this pump if it is working but just leaks, it can be easily removed and cleaned with brake cleaner and the side where it is attached on the head should also be cleaned with brake cleaner, and you may use black silicone gasket and new seal which is $9 from the volvo dealer and you should be good, replacing just a seal itself won’t help for long,
