Q: Hello I have 2004 volvo xc90 with 95K on it and it looks like transmission is going bad, I have read on different volvo forums that it is very common problem. I would like to ask you if you know that issue and can advice what to do, thank you in advance,

A: Yes, I know that 2003 and 2004 volvos xc90 series with 6 cylinder engine had problems with transmissions, it is so common problem that even one of my friends who works for volvo dealer said that it is like 100% failure rate so considering your miles you are lucky driving so long on that transmission, I also know that the problem was in software that coz internal damage to the transmission, if the software was updated on time it would prevent that damage, I dont really recommend used transmission because all of it had problems, the best would be if you could get remanufactured volvo xc90 transmission with warranty and also do the software update,
