Q:Hi… when you state that the vin number is ‘from’… , I am assuming that my number has to be higher. Is that correct ? Also, how hard is this piece to install ? It seems like most sources want you to believe it is virtually impossible. Thanks.
A: Yes, you are right it is impossible to do on late 99 and up but on all 1998 and early 99 it is possible to do and that’s what lots of people do, I do have 2 types of center support bearings that go on these drive shafts, all I need is last 6 digits of the vin number to tell which bearing would be right for your volvo, if it goes to replacing the bearing it is not very difficult whoever separated axle shafts will know that drive shaft works the same way, there is a c-clip on inside of the shaft and it needs to be snapped off that applies to late 98 and early 99 drive shaft if it goes to 98 there is a bolt just where the center u joint is and it need to be removed in order to separate it, I hope it helps here i I included a link to the bearings that I offer
