Q: I recently bought a 2004 xc90 Volvo from a dealer near my house, the guy told me that every time you buy a used car always get a tune up for the car so i did it, after 3 months i started having problems with the car so i decided to take to the Volvo agency near where i live, after they did the check up for the car it turns out that the yaw sensor got wet it needs to be replace, the rear drive shaft also needs to be fix, and the worst part the transmission needs to be replace as well, the guy who works at the Volvo told me that he might get us a new transmission free or cheaper depending if the car still has a warranty for that, but its been several days and i haven’t heard from him, so i don’t know what to do, i bought the car for $10,000, and with all the fixing its going to be at least $9,000
A:I must say that I wish you asked me before you have decided to buy that xc90 because I would never recommend buying one of these cars, all of the problems you have listed are very common problems and there are even more that you didn’t experience yet so these would be to come, I would recommend not putting any money to that car and sell it as is and say that it might needs parts listed perhaps somebody is willing to do some work on it, even when you spend the money on all of the repairs it wont be end of your problems that car is very expensive when it goes to maintenance and has many issues like the water under the seat that will need to be resolved before you replace the yaw rate sensor because even you is you replace the sensor you will still have the same problems after a while, that water is there because of the clogged sun roof drain, I recommend getting rid of that car before it will cost you a small fortune, you mentioned that the transmission might be put in for free if you could have that done on warranty that would be great and than you could sell it,I hope it helps,
I do recommend volvos xc90 but only after 2005 and with 6 cylinder engine (no turbo) and 8 cylinder engine, I included a link where you might find volvo xc90 series 05 and newer
